Konstantinos Poulas is the head of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Immunology and has been a faculty member of the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Patras since 2003. Over the past three decades, he has focused extensively on elucidating the structure and function of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.
In the last decade, Poulas has expanded his research to include the study and analysis of tobacco harm reduction (THR) products. His work at the molecular, cellular, and histological levels aims to uncover the effects of these products, providing critical insights that inform public health policies and therapeutic approaches. His research encompasses various aspects, from the biochemical pathways affected by THR products to the potential health implications of their use. Poulas has authored 140 publications in peer-reviewed journals in the fields of molecular biology, immunology, and pharmacology.
